Alternatives

  • Cheese - gouda, swiss, feta, muenster, pepper jack, cheddar jack, marble jack, white cheddar,  Monterey jack,  and mozzarella (low moisture) are all great substitutes for cheddar. Add 1/4 cup extra for a cheesier quiche
  • No shredded cheese? Add 1/3 cup of cottage cheese in place of the shredded cheese
  • Add spices - 1/2 tsp of basil, oregano, thyme, Italian seasoning, white pepper (1/4tsp), mustard powder, dried parsley, nutmeg (1/8tsp), or red pepper flakes
  • Garlic - use 1tsp of pre-minced garlic for every 1 garlic clove
  • Vegetarian - omit the ham and add 1 cup of diced veggies during step 3 of the PREPARATIONS phase. *You only want 1 cup of vegetables total, split your veggies however you'd like
    • bell peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini (thinly sliced), tomatoes (1/4 cup or less), green pas, carrots (thinly sliced or finely diced), green onion, corn, green beans, hash brown potatoes, roasted cauliflower
  • Milk - use any % milk you'd like,  half and half, or heavy cream
    • Dairy free - use unflavored/unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, soy milk
  • Garnish with grated parmesan, fresh herbs (basil, oregano, parsley), arugula, chopped chives, or crispy bacon bits
  • Ham - use leftover holiday ham or a ham steak. Pan fry the cubes of ham in 3/4Tbsp oil or butter for 5-7 minutes for a crispy, flavorful outside - remove ham before starting step 3 of the PREPARATIONS phase
  • Pie crust - make your own pie crust, herb-infused pie crust
  • No tart pan? use a regular pie pan, or spring form pan
